When is the best time to stay at Homb?

Any time in the first year of your baby’s life, provided you are both discharged from hospital. In order to get the best out of your stay, we recommend booking in the first six weeks of your baby’s life.

How do you manage due dates?

If you are planning a cesarean please talk to your healthcare provider about your expected discharge date. For all other births, please allow a minimum two-week grace period from expected due date.

When should I book?

If you are planning to come with your newborn, 4-5 months away from your due date is the best time to make a booking however, please allow a grace period after your due date so that we can best accommodate you at Homb. If your baby is already here, please refer to our booking system for our next availability.

Do I bring my baby with me?

Yes! Definitely! Homb is a space that nurtures the mother-baby dyad by providing you with the best of care so that you can bond with your baby. Due to the size of our facility, we ask that no other children accompany you during your stay.

Can my partner come?

Absolutely! We understand that families come in all shapes and sizes. We ask that only one immediate support person accompanies you during your stay. Some costs may be incurred for meals and laundry if they wish to have the full Homb experience.

Who will be caring for me at Homb?

Our team of Care Specialists are some of the best in the industry. With a shared passion for postpartum care, they bring an incredible array of qualifications to our space, specifically tailored to enhancing postpartum wellness, including midwifery, nursing, naturopathy, IBCLC lactation support, birth debriefing and so much more.

What will it cost me to stay at Homb?

Our cost per night is $1300.

Cost at a glance:

The cost of private obstetric fees during pregnancy may vary from $4.5k- $7k and even higher for some professionals. A 4 night stay at Homb is $5200 giving you, what we hope, will help to empower and heal you through your postpartum period.

Cost comparison:

Daily organically sourced meals, snacks and drinks would cost over $150 per day

A general lactation support consult in the community could cost you anywhere from $300-$400 for 90 mins

Postpartum doula support for a few hours ranges in cost from $250- $350.

During your stay you will be nourished with thoughtfully prepared food, have 24/7 support on hand for you from doulas, registered nurses and midwives and lactation consultants ready to assist with anything you need for you and Bub, a post partum massage and much more whilst you stay at Homb.

We value the service that our incredible team provides and prioritize the importance of postpartum care and we hope you do too.

Do you offer lactation support?

Yes. Feeding support will be available around the clock during your stay with us, with specialised support from an IBCLC (Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant) available most days. If further support is needed after your stay with us, this can be arranged through our staff IBCLC’s or anyone in our extensive list of IBCLC’s.

Do you offer education?

Yes. At Homb we firmly believe that knowledge is power. Facilitated by our team of extraordinary care specialists, we provide education as required by our guests on a range of topics such as breastfeeding nutrition, Matrescence, gentle movement, aware parenting, birth imprints, and so much more.

Our staff possess a wealth of knowledge which will be available to you whenever they are on site to help make you feel empowered and ready for your return home.

Can I come and go while I am staying at Homb?

Of course! Homb is located In the beautiful urban surroundings of Elsternwick, with wide, leafy streets, nature walks and parks nearby if you are ready to move your body outdoors. We also understand that you may have appointments to attend for yourself or your baby.

Tell me about the food!

Our menu boasts a variety of naturopath-approved, organic meals and snacks, designed to provide optimal nutrition to those who are in the childbearing stage of life. Your stay includes 3 meals per day as well as all of your snacks and beverages.

Meals and snacks are available to non-birth parents or support person at an additional cost, and modifications for dietary requirements can be made upon request.

How will I do my laundry during my stay?

A laundry service will be provided for you and your baby during your stay at Homb. This service can also be provided to non-birth parent or support person at an additional cost.

What can I do to prepare for my stay?

Prior to your stay, you will recieve a welcome pack containing everything you need to know about our facility and what you should pack for you and your baby. You will also be contacted by our team to arrange a call where we discuss your needs in detail, so we can ensure you are getting the best out of your stay. Any questions that you have about your stay can be answered during this call, you can also ask any questions by emailing our bookings team at any time.

Is there parking available?

There is some parking available nearby our facility. Please note as Homb is situated in a residential area we ask that all guests be mindful of our neighbours when parking, entering and exiting the property. Parking for the facility is between 31, 33 and 35 Regent Street.

What are the Check in and Check out times?

Check-in is from 2pm on the day of your arrival, and check-out is at 10am to give us time to prepare your room for the next guest.

Special arrangements can be made on request pending suite availability.

Can I have visitors?

In order to maximise your rest during your time at Homb, we ask that visitors make a booking prior to being invited to our premises, except for your partner or immediate support person.

What happens if myself or my baby is sick prior to our stay?

For the safety and wellness of all staff and other guests we ask that you notify our team if you or baby is unwell so we can reschedule your stay. We will endeavour to rebook you as soon as soon as you are well, however cannot guarantee that there will be rooms available.

How long can I stay?

A minimum of 4 nights stay is required so that our team are able to work their magic and send you home feeling empowered, nourished and rested. You may stay for as long as you wish, subject to availability.

What is the cancellation policy?

Is Homb a sleep school?

Homb is not a sleep school. While our care team is available to you 24/7, and able to help with settling and care for your baby while you sleep, we do not offer sleep training

Payments
What do I need to book my stay?

A 50% deposit is required at time of booking. An option to pay the full amount of your stay is available at time of booking if you would prefer.

When do I need to pay the total balance of my stay?

Full payment of your stay will be required 7 days prior to your arrival

Are there subsidies available?

Yes. Homb is a registered not-for-profit and we offer fully or partially funded stays on a means-tested basis. Please refer to our ‘supported stays’ page for more info.

Supported stays?

Homb offers 50% and 100% financially supported stays on a means testing basis. If you are eligible for a supported stay, documentation will be required prior to booking. To find out more visit our ‘charity’ page

Can I get private health rebates?

This is a current work in progress. We are having conversations with all private health insurers to encourage them to include Homb in their postpartum coverage.
